This application note describes the solution to control the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) using the stellaris microcontroller lm4f. The stellaris lm4f device is part of the M4 family of microcontrollers, which enables the intelligent controller to be cost-effective designed for three-phase motors by reducing system components and improving efficiency. Compared with these devices, more accurate digital vector control algorithms, such as field oriented control (FOC), can be realized. The implementation of the algorithm is discussed in this document. FOC algorithm maintains efficiency in a wide range of speed and processes dynamic considering transient phase considering torque variation of motor model. Among the proposed solutions are some methods to eliminate the phase current sensor and use an observer for speed sensorless control. The DMC library uses ti's IQ math library to support fixed and floating point operations. This makes it easy to migrate from a floating pointing device. A configuration of tms320f2806x, which is a floating point microcontroller, is available in the project to highlight this.
