Today, medical image processing is a more emerging and popular area. The processing of MRI images is one part of this field. This paper describes the proposed strategy for detecting and extracting brain tumors from MRI scans of patients with brain tumors. This method combines some basic concepts of image processing such as noise removal function, segmentation and morphology. Through the use of MATLAB software to detect and extract brain MRI scan image of tumor. Mriimages preprocessing is the main step of image analysis for image enhancement and noise reduction technology to improve image quality. Then some morphological operations are used to detect tumors in the image. For some assumptions about size, the tumor and its shape are basically mapped to the original gray scale image and the 255 degree of intensity to make the tumor visible. The algorithm has been tried in brain tumourimages patients with a number of MRI data.
