Application background With the increasing popularity of road, China road transportation development rapidly, so artificial management way has not full the actual need, application of microelectronics, communications and computer technology in the field of traffic greatly improves the efficiency of traffic management. Automatic recognition technology of vehicle license plate has been widely used. Vehicle license plate automatic recognition of whole process as pretreatment, edge extraction, license plate location, character segmentation, character recognition module, which the character recognition process mainly consists of the following 3 parts composition: 1. Correct segmentation of text image region; II the correct separation of a single text; thirdly, correctly identify a single character. MATLAB software programming to achieve each part, and finally identify the vehicle license. At the same time, the problem is analyzed, and the problems are analyzed.
