Intelligent transportation system (ITS) is a key point for them to provide effective solutions to improve the safety and life of citizens. The public sector studies the community. The effectiveness of such a system depends on the rapid processing of traffic and vehicle related information to deal with congestion and dangerous situations. To get a dynamic and pervasive environment, the vehicle is fully integrated in its low-cost technology (capable of strong penetration into the market) that must be provided by effort, academic and industrial research. In this chapter, the author discusses the design and implementation of a prototype vehicle unit capable of interacting with roadside networks and vehicular electronic devices. In more detail, in order to scientifically describe the solution, the author starts with a clear statement that vehicle equipment should respond to the requirements. Then they detailed the selection of off the shelf components for the prototype car unit. In the last part of this chapter, the author discusses several possible applications, in which the developed devices can be used, and the open issues of future research activities.
