Economic and Environmental Impacts of a PV With Di
no vote
ectric power systems for remote villages. MATLAB Simulink is used to match the load with the demand and apportion the electrical production between the PV and diesel-electric generator. The economic part of the model calculates the fuel consumed, the kilo watt hours obtained per gallon of fuel supplied, and the total cost of fuel. The environmental part of the model calculates the 2, particulate matter (PM), and the x emitted to the atmosphere. Simulations based on an actual system in the remote Alaskan community of Lime Village were performed for three cases: 1) diesel only; 2) diesel-battery; and 3) PV with diesel-battery using a one-year time period. The simulation results were utilized to calculate the energy payback, the simple payback time for the PV module, and the avoided costs of 2, x, and PM. Post-simulation analysis includes the comparison of results with those predi

Sonic anemometer tilt correction algorithm
no vote
The present submission is a direct application of the algorithm proposed by Wilczak et al. [1] to correct the wind components recorded by a sonic anemometer from tilt angles. It is compared to the double and triple rotation algorithm.  The present submission contains :  - 4 example files: Example_PF.m, Example_rot2.m and Example_rot3.m and Example_frictionVelocity.m  - The function tiltCorrection.m

Turbulent friction velocity calculated from the Re
no vote
Type of application: Micrometeorology, surface layer turbulence.  The present Matlab submission contains:  - A function "frictionVelocity.m" that computes the friction velocity using the standard method or the one proposed in [1]. The latter method is more appropriate in complex terrain and a neutral atmosphere.  - An example file "Example.m" that compares the 2 methods

Voltage Stability and Sensitivity Analysis of Grid
no vote
Integration of significant amount of solar power challenges the power system stability operation. This project  presents analyses on the static and transient voltage characteristics at the point of common coupling of a  grid-connected photovoltaic system. The static voltage response, known as a PV curve, for the photovoltaic system is analyzed. The voltage transient behaviors caused by the disturbance of parameters in photovoltaic generation system are also studied. In particular, we try to find out the impact of system parameters, such as temperature, solar irradiance, and load changes on the voltage stability. In addition, a method of voltage stability sensitivity analysis is presented for comparison between the impacts of different parameters on voltage stability.
