&Universal asynchronous receiver / transmitter, usually called UART, is a kind of asynchronous transceiver and a part of computer hardware. It converts the data to be transmitted between serial communication and parallel communication. As a chip to convert parallel input signal to serial output signal, UART is usually integrated into the connection of other communication interfaces. The concrete objects are independent modular chips or peripheral devices integrated in microprocessors. Generally RS-232C specification, and similar to maxim MAX232 such as the standard signal amplitude conversion chip for matching, as the interface to connect external devices. The product that adds the synchronous mode sequence signal conversion circuit to UART is called USART (Universal Synchronous Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter).
