Oversampling to Reduce the Effect of Timing Jitter
4.0
O RTHOGONAL frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is used in many wireless broadband communication systems because it is a simple and scalable solution to inter symbol interference caused by a multipath channel. Very recently the use of OFDM in optical systems has attracted increasing interest. Data rates in optical fiber systems are typically much higher than in RF wireless systems. The impairments caused by timing jitter are a significant limiting factor in the performance of very high

ADAPTIVE BILATERAL FILTER FOR SHARPNESS ENHANCEMEN
4.0
In this paper, we present the adaptive bilateral filter (ABF) for sharpness enhancement and noise removal. The ABF sharpens an image by increasing the slope of the edges without producing overshoot or undershoot. It is an approach to sharpness enhancement that is fundamentally different from the unsharp mask (USM). This new approach to slope restoration also differs significantly from previous slope restoration algorithms in that the ABF does not involve detection of edges or their orientation, or extraction of edge profiles. In the ABF, the edge slope is enhanced by transforming the histogram via a range filter with adaptive offset and width. The ABF is able to smooth the noise, while enhancing edges and textures in the image. The parameters of the ABF are optimized with a training procedure. ABF restored images are significantly sharper than those restored by the bilateral filte

Removal of High Density Salt & Pepper Noise Through a Modified Decision Based Median Filte
no vote
In  this  paper,  a  modified  decision  based  median filtering  approach  is  presented  for  the  restoration  of  gray  scale and  color  images  that  are  highly  corrupted  by  salt  and  pepper noise.  It  is  an  enhanced  decision  based  algorithm  where  noise pixels  are  detected  in  several  phases  based  on  predefined threshold  value.  The  noise  pixels  are  replaced  by  median  where median  value  is  calculated  without  considering  0  and  255.  As  a result,  at  high  density noise  environment  it  is  very efficient to  find noise  free  median  value.  The  algorithm&nb
