Routing Protocols-RIP OPNET implementation

<span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"">The Routing InformationProtocol (RIP) is an example of a dynamic distance vector routingalgorithm.  This protocol chooses routes within a network which are ofminimum distance.  Routers adapt to changes in network topology (link orrouter failures) by periodically exchanging information with their directlyconnected neighbors.  In normal conditions, routing table information isexchanged periodically (typically every 30 seconds).  When changes intopology occur, however, the triggered update mechanism comes intoplay.  If a router receives new routing information, it will wait 1-5seconds (randomly determined) before passing that information on to itsneighbors, rather than the full 30 seconds.  The triggered updatemechanism causes topology information to propagate through the network muchfaster than it otherwise would.
