Energy detection in cognitive radio

Energy detection is an attractive spectrum sensing method for cognitive radio. The design of energy detection relies on two critical assumptions: 1) noise power is perfectly and {it a prior} known; and 2) the test statistics in energy detection can be accurately modeled as independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.) Gaussian random variables. In practice, noise power varies from time to time. This renders difficulty in estimating noise power and incurs an inaccuracy in modeling the test statistics. This paper studies how to realize energy detection using software-defined radio in a real environment. The noise power variation in a real environment is investigated. A histogram based method is proposed to determine the threshold of energy detection.

OFDM data are generated by taking symbols in the spectral space using M-PSK, QAM, etc, and convert the spectra to time domain by taking the Inverse Discrete Fourier Transform (IDFT). MATLAB simulation of basic cognitive radio

We investigate the idea of reusing local unused spectrum to increase the total capacity of the simulated cognitive radio system. In the research phase of the project, we tried to dig out all the available simulation methods, but unfortunately no one mentioned the exact method or program and most of the simulation is on some specific hardware platform. So we can find all kinds of parameters of cognitive radio system on various hardware platforms. Previous simulation methods can be used to simulate only some specific aspects of cognitive radio technology, such as system handover test bed, spectral efficiency, spectral scanning, MIMO technology and CR system. We simulate the basic knowledge of a simple cognitive radio system in MATLAB r2008b. Is there any previous technology available, or can't we find a person to simulate cognitive radio systems. But we have tried our best to make our code as simple as possible as the survey results, so that they are easy to understand for anyone, even a little bit know what the basic communication system is.
